Craft Fair News

I am very sorry to announce that due to ongoing ill health Isaac cannot organise and run the botanic Gardens Craft fair, all dates are cancelled.  Isaac had a procedure on his spine early in February and has just been discharged from hospital with ongoing heart decease problems (29 February 2016).  Isaac and myself are truly sad that this has had to be cancelled.

DRAWER SETS

The Draws come in a myriad of shapes and sizes, they can be made from a solid piece of wood or as I prefer from laminated pieces.  I saw the large bits of wood into 1" thick planks, then plane them smooth before gluing them back into a large piece of wood, this way I believe the wood is more stable.

Aurora Borealis

Aurora is the Goddess of the dawn, solar winds ruffle luminous curtains of magnetic activity in the earth's northern lights, that shimmering effect is reflected in this Draw Set.  The wood is Laburnum, which is native to the mountains of southern Europe. Quite a rare wood in the UK, the heartwood is a dark chocolate brown with buttery yellow sapwood, all parts of the tree are poisonous and care must be taken when working the wood, the handles are crafted from Spalted Beech.  The wood for these draws came from Kings Park Glasgow.

Tsunami one draw

This draw set was made by Isaac Curran.  These, sometimes huge geologically induced oceanic swells can cause such devastation and yet they are a beautiful representation of the Earths power which has inspired the design of these draws.  The wood used is Rippled Ash , which has been  recovered from the South of Glasgow where it had been fallen. The wood for the handles was a gift and they are made from re-claimed Ebony (not from Glasgow) The lining is a deep purple colour and is called "flocking"

This draw set was made by Isaac Curran.  The Mollusc comes in a huge variety of shapes but many of them are streamline so that it is easier to hang on to small rocks and crevasis which has inspired the design of these draws.  The wood used is Rippled Ash , which has been  recovered from the South of Glasgow where it had been fallen. The wood for the handles was a gift and they are made from re-claimed Ebony (not from Glasgow) The lining is a deep red colour and is called "flocking"
